The MMORPG Runescape is played by millions of people from all over the world with diverse cultural backgrounds and languages. Like any other game, Runescape too has its dishonest players (the disruptive minority) and, therefore, the creators (Jagex) of this game have implemented rules to protect the others who play their game.

Generally, most players are friendly and helpful but should you encounter another player whose behaviour you consider abusive towards you, you can report them by using the in game Report Abuse feature and action will be taken against these players if Jagex player support team agrees with you after the matter has been investigated.

There are three categories of rules, namely: honour, respect and security. A new player should familiarise himself/herself before playing the game.

Runescape is a 3d massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) which was created by JAGEX. Jagex stands for JAva Gaming EXperts.

Runescape is a genre of computer role-playing games in which a large number of players interact with one another within a virtual game world. A player assumes the role of a fictional character in a fantasy world/virtual world and take control over many of that character's actions.

A player’s character is “born” and starts out with nothing. The player then has to grow his/her character by performing various tasks to increase the levels of various skills, and to make virtual game money to spend within this fantasy world.

The player can communicate with other players via a text box. Whatever is typed in the text box, will appear above the head of the character showing that it is “speaking” to another player. The player can buy or sell to other players via the Grand Exchange or on a 1 : 1 basis.

This game can be played for free (indefinitely) and there is quite a large amount of content to keep you busy for months, if not years. There is a members section to this game which costs USD5 per month. This is an expansion of the free to play version and opens up a much wider area of the game, but this is optional.

Runescape can be played directly from your browser with no installation necessary, just ensure to have Java and Javascript enabled on your browser.

There are many aspects to this game and how one develops ones character is totally up to one. It is a very entertaining game and families are encouraged to play together.
