RS Updates: Chance of Double Law, Death and Blood Runes

0

Based on player feedback to last November’s Runecrafting update, we’ve extended the ability of double-crafting runes to include law, death and blood runes. As the Runecrafting level to guarantee double-crafting of these runes would lie much higher than level 99 (following the pattern established in the rest of the skill), you will only have a chance of doing so, with that chance increasing the closer your Runecrafting level gets to 99.

The ability to double-craft law, death and blood runes now means that it is possible to receive more than one of each type of rune from a single essence. The greater chance, at higher Runecrafting levels, of crafting two law, death or blood runes per essence should provide more incentive to train the skill through the last few levels.

RS Updates: Potions, Spells and Runes

0

We’ve taken a careful look at the extreme Herblore potions we released a few weeks ago and have now reintroduced them to safe PvP minigames – that includes Castle Wars, Soul Wars, safe Clan Wars, TzHaar Fight Pit, and the Duel Arena (but not ‘no-potion’ fights or Tournaments).

As part of this, we’ve slightly changed the way in which the extreme magic potion works – it now provides a visible Magic stat boost of 7, which decreases over time as with other stat-boosting potions. The normal magic potion’s level boost has been increased to +5. We have, however, also made a change to the Magic skill itself, so that if your Magic level is boosted by any means, you will inflict +3% magic damage per boosted level. This is on top of the +10% magic damage you inflict when wielding certain staves.

Part of the reason for these changes is that we’ve added four new high-level elemental battle spells to the standard spellbook. The Wind Surge (level 81), Water Surge (level 85), Earth Surge (level 90) and Fire Surge (level 95) spells each require one blood and one death rune, and some air runes (and some water, earth or fire runes for those respective elemental spells).

The max hit of Fire Surge is:
  • 28 without boosts
  • 30 with a magic damage-boosting staff
  • 33 with extreme magic/overload
  • 37 with both extreme magic/overload and a magic damage-boosting staff

With those updates, you’re going to need some more runes, so, to top it all off, Runecrafting also gets a tweak. As of today, crafting multiple runes out of one essence has changed for the better. Before, you would only gain the ability to craft an extra rune at specific Runecrafting levels (e.g. 2 air runes at level 11, 3 air runes at level 22, 4 at level 33, and so on). Now, there is a ‘chance’ of getting an extra rune on ‘some’ of your essences if you are between those set levels, with that chance increasing as your level increases (e.g. at Runecrafting levels 12-21, you will gain 2 or 3 air runes per essence). If you want to imagine it visually, what used to be a step graph has been smoothed out into a curve. This is explained in a little more detail in the Game Guide, but the bottom line is that you’ll receive more runes for your hard work.

In other news...

Your run mode setting is now stored between logins.

You can now take Ava's Attractor and Accumulator to Lanthus and you will be able to retrieve dropped ammo while in Castle Wars. There's also a toggle option on both items to allow you to stop receiving junk.

The pharaoh's sceptre now displays its remaining charges in the name of the item.

The Summoning skillcape now has a boost option to match other skillcapes.

Cannons will no longer waste cannonballs on NPCs in the process of dying. You can now also top up the ammo when it's already firing and there’s an auto-setup feature.

Bones to Peaches and Bones to Bananas can now be used to convert any bones up to and including big bones.

Runescape: Getting started

2
To create a new account, go to Runescape.
  1. Enter a name for your character. If the name is already taken, you will be advised of this and you will need to try again until you find an available name.
  2. Complete the form and accept the terms and conditions.
  3. You are now ready to enter the game and create your character.
  4. Decide if you want your character to be male or female and then give your character a look.
  5. The look that you create for your character now is just a default look. You will be able to clothe your character in various items that you will obtain in the game.
  6. If you decide later that you do not like the default look of your character, you can change this in the game.

  7. You will now find yourself on Tutorial Island where you will learn a little about the game.

  8. You will see a flashing yellow arrow point to a Runescape guide, talk to this non playing character (npc). You will find many npc’s in the game.
  9. Follow the instructions given to you by the various Runescape guides. They will explain all skills available to free players and they may give you items to perform certain tasks.
  10. Once you are done on Tutorial Island, you can speak to the Magic Instructor who will give you a teleport spell to the mainland found in your spell book. This spell you will keep and is called the Lumbridge Home teleport. It is a free spell which does not require any runes and is available to use 30 min after you last used it.

  11. Lumbridge Village – this has changed for the better for new players.

  12. Once you have teleported off Tutorial Island, you will find yourself in Lumbridge.
  13. You are now in the “real” Runescape world.
  14. You can speak to the various tutors (you will see an icon – question mark – on the mini map near them). To earn money, you can do little jobs for them. Alternatively, you can kill monsters (for your level) for gold coins.
  15. I’d suggest that you’d start cutting normal logs and burning them to increase both your woodcutting and firemaking levels. Get them to about lvl 5 – 10.
  16. Before attempting to attack any npc’s you should get yourself some food and armour to prevent you from dying from their attacks.
  17. There is a bank on top of Lumbridge Castle. Bank all your items, except those that you will need, e.g. hatchet for cutting logs and tinderbox for burning the logs.
  18. Go out and explore, but for now try and stay close to Lumbridge. If you get lost, ask other players for help or the globe icon (world map). This will open into a big map and show you exactly where you are.
I wish that they had all these tutors in the game (not just on Tutorial Island) and the world map when I first started playing Runescape a few years ago.

Good luck and have fun.

The Rules of Runescape

0
The MMORPG Runescape is played by millions of people from all over the world with diverse cultural backgrounds and languages. Like any other game, Runescape too has its dishonest players (the disruptive minority) and, therefore, the creators (Jagex) of this game have implemented rules to protect the others who play their game.

Generally, most players are friendly and helpful but should you encounter another player whose behaviour you consider abusive towards you, you can report them by using the in game Report Abuse feature and action will be taken against these players if Jagex player support team agrees with you after the matter has been investigated.

There are three categories of rules, namely: honour, respect and security. A new player should familiarise himself/herself before playing the game.

Honour
* Macroing, and use of bots or third-party software
* Real-world trading
* Buying, selling or sharing an account
* Multiple logging-in
* Knowingly exploiting a bug
* Jagex staff impersonation
* Password, account, bank PIN or item scamming
* Advert blocking
* Encouraging others to break the rules

Respect
* Discrimination of any kind, whether based on another player's race, nationality, gender, sexual orientation or religious beliefs
* Solicitation
* Threatening another player, or bullying of any kind
* Using obscene or inappropriate language
* Spamming, or disruptive behaviour
* Misuse of the forums

Security
* Asking for or providing contact information such as full names, ages, postal or email addresses, telephone numbers or bank details
* Discussing or advocating illegal activity of any kind, such as the use of illegal drugs
* Advertising other websites
